Hi. My name is Adrian Shepherd and I'm the head teacher at Smith's Hirakata. I was born in England but left when I was 8 due to my father's work and was lucky enough to go to International Schools in both the Philippines and Thailand. I went to a small college in America and that's where I found my love for the Japanese language. I came here as an exchange student for 6 months during my sophomore year and loved it so much that I came back a year later to study more. After graduation, I decided that I would like to come back to Japan to help Japanese people understand my language.

Learning a language can be one of the most rewarding things you'll ever do. I never thought I'd be able to speak naturally in a foreign language as I had so much trouble with Spanish but it's all about desire. I wanted to learn Japanese so I did so. If you want to learn English, then you can, and I can help.

I teach both children and adults because I like the challenges that each present me. I decided to work for Smith's because I liked their philosophy about teaching.
